Double Happiness

Description

:icontomagirl14: commissioned this piece as a set of two, and by golly, was it complicated! XD Mostly it was the details. Anyway, the title refers to the Chinese character in the background, which means "double happiness" , referring to marriage and two people joining together. Here we have Wufei and :icontomagirl14: 's oc Li Ming at their traditional Chinese wedding. From what I've researched, there are a whole bunch of different traditions varying by region, so I designed the clothes based on several examples. Red is a constant factor, so...yeah, red. And Wufei's chest has a dragon symbol for the Long clan. Admittedly, the crown on Li Ming's head is from an actual photograph, because it was so detailed >__< But the rest is mine. I hope this works!

Uhm thought I'd mention that in China color has a different meaning than here. White is death in China and therefore it's never ever one of the colors worn on one's wedding. Gold is the color of the emperor and thus not worn either by non royal Chinese.

Love the art though. Just thought I should mention the color thing since there's a lot of white in it and white is never worn on any occassion except for when one has lost someone to death. Kind of like black is for the western world. Hence why Wufei in the series wears white clothes as his Wife died in Ep Zero.
