New Old West

Haha....yeah...bad title >__<

Warning: Unnecessarily long explanation ahead. Don't feel you have to read it.

Ok, a commission for , who wanted General Grievous from Star Wars, and Ymir from Queen's Blade, having a Wild West standoff. (Had never heard of Ymir or Queen's Blade before this, so it was interesting to do! ) This is just before any shots get fired- basically, they're in motion, but they both move so fast that this particular frame in time is bullet-free XD Also, Grievous had just loomed in from the right. DUM DUM DUUUUUUUM! (See if you can catch the referential details in this. The easiest is the symbol on Ymir's gun, which is the same as the one on her axe in the original game) .

The costumes are all my design, based on the canon costumes (in Grievous' case, a cape. That's it. ) I decided to put more on Grievous because he'd need to keep his metallic body as free as possible from the omnipresent desert dust, as well as keep it from direct sunlight, as I imagine what's left of his actual body would get burned by the sun-heated robot part of him. Also, who knows if his kind gets sunburnt, but...yeah.... XD

As always, I used a specific color palette for this, based almost completely on Ymir's canon colors. Shades of pink, blue and yellow/gold, plus a dab of green. Because this isn't a particularly cheerful place, I desaturated everything, which is weird when one considers how cheerful yellow and pink are supposed to be. In a few places, the pink goes almost to red (mostly near Grievous, for obvious reasons) . Also, has anyone ever looked at an old west town? Even in old photos, when the towns were newer, they looked old and dusty! So...yeah, I tried to make this one the same. The background took me the longest, and I'm not especially happy with it, but I'm afraid to destroy it if I keep noodling, so....here you go. I hope it works! (Oh, and yes, the buildings are supposed to be crooked and leaning. It's all part of the menace, and is to draw your eye to Ymir. )
